Tennessee Valley Authority is reporting storm damage to its transmission power grid in Hamilton and Bradley counties and in North Alabama.
TVA officials said the transmission system is stable and secure and all nuclear plants remain safe, but the one reactor currently in service at Sequoyah north of Chattanooga is operating at 70 percent power due to transmission lines being out of service from storm damage near the plant.
TVA reports that about 32,000 customers are experiencing outages in North Alabama, Southeast Tennessee and Western Kentucky.
TVA said 13 transmission lines are out of service in Southeast Tennessee and North Alabama. The utility has activated a transmission emergency operations center to assess and begin repairs to portions of its transmission grid in Hamilton and Bradley counties and North Alabama.
