SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Three in ten voters in Georgia's presidential primary said they finally decided whom to support in the last days of the campaign, the highest share to say so since the South Carolina primary more than a month ago.
Most voters here, however, were solidly behind their chosen candidate according to a preliminary exit poll conducted in the state. It was one of the few states voting Tuesday where a majority expressed strong backing for their choice.
The economy was the most important issue for voters, followed by the federal budget deficit. About nine in ten said they were dissatisfied or angry with the federal government.
Preliminary results from the Georgia exit poll include 1,190 voters. The survey's margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
