Walker County Weekly moving into your neighborhood

Welcome to the inaugural edition of Walker County Weekly Community News, a local newspaper focused on providing coverage of Walker County's news, events, businesses, schools, churches and residents.

The Walker County Community News will be published and delivered every Wednesday. The newspaper is also available online at http://community2.timesfreepress.com.

With a commitment to Walker County, the Community News is specifically interested in the people and places that make the area special and distinct. Each week we will try to illuminate the important events in the community while also detailing local people, businesses, artisans and organizations that help make the community prosper.

To help us further that mission, readers are encouraged to submit information for calendar listings, event briefs and potential stories.

Along with timely announcements about the various club, school, church and civic activities taking place in the area, we look for local feature stories about interesting people, community services, homes, cooks, arts and entertainment, businesses and much more. A staff of writers including Timara Frassrand, Mike O'Neal and Katie Ward will be centered on Walker County each week to provide informative and interesting articles about you and your neighbors.

In addition, Walker County Weekly Community News will offer a local advertising vehicle for the retail community. Affordable rates will enable local businesses, shops and services to target their neighborhood with business-building advertisements. Shop local will be the theme. For advertising information, contact Kiersten Sundling at 423-757-6297 or ksundling@timesfreepress.com.
