Smoke blankets downtown Chattanooga from south Walker fire

The Sunday afternoon smoke hanging over Chattanooga is a result of an 1,100 acre controlled burn in Walker and Chattooga counties, according to the Georgia Forestry Commission.

The annual burn is performed to promote ecological health, a commission spokesman said this afternoon.
