Richard Faires, 50, is charged with arson.An East Ridge man was arrested early Sunday morning after a woman told police her brother set her carport on fire.
Police responded to the home on Weaver Street after a woman told police her brother, 50-year-old Richard Faires, wrapped a T-shirt around the corner of the carport and set it on fire, said police spokesman Erik Hopkins.
The woman told police her brother had been threatening to harm her.
Faires has been charged with arson and and is due in East Ridge Municipal Court on Tuesday April 10.
