Chattanooga teen shooting thought to be gang-related

A young man was hospitalized after a Wednesday night shooting that police believe was another instance of gang violence, police spokesman Nathan Hartwig reported.

The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. at the Eastdale Recreation Center. Different neighbors reported hearing one to three shots. The victim, an 18 year old black male, was shot in the shoulder, dispatchers said. He was transported to Erlanger for treatment.

Police cordoned off the recreation center, but the glass on the front door was visibly broken.

Officers are working on suspect leads, Hartwig continued. The victim's name is being withheld pending family notification.
