Chattanooga: Schools budget under review at Hamilton County Commission

Hamilton County Schools Superintendent Rick Smith presented a $330.7 million budget to Hamilton County commissioners today.

The budget, which seeks no new funding from the county, incorporates tax growth and $4.8 million more in state funding. The county currently gets about $128 million from the state's Basic Education Program.

"Three years ago the state legislature did take action to retool and review the BEP funding," Smith said. The school district is expecting about $12.5 million in additional funding.
