Man in Calhoun, Ga., arrested for pretending to be a police officer

A Calhoun, Ga., man was arrested after police say he pretended to be an officer after being involved in a wreck.

Caleb Veler, 24, was arrested Thursday and charged with one count of impersonating a police officer, said Calhoun Police Chief Garry Moss in a news release.

Last week, officers were called to a Subway parking lot off Highway 53 for a traffic accident, Moss said. Officers were told Veler had been irate and ranting that he was a police officer and the accident didn't need to be reported.

Witnesses also said Veler had been telling other people at the accident that he was an officer, Moss said.

Veler remains in Gordon County jail, pending bond.
