Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board agents seize about 135 gallons of moonshine

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Agents with the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board have seized about 135 gallons of illegal moonshine whiskey in Lowndes County.

WSFA-TV reports that it's the second still seized and destroyed at the same location in the last year. The illegal alcohol has an approximate street value of $4,050 or about $30 per gallon.

The moonshine was seized on Thursday from an abandoned shack approximately 40 yards from the active still site.

ABC Enforcement Captain Hal Taylor says that moonshine is not only illegal but also a public health concern. It is typically made in very unsanitary conditions and people who drink it are taking a big chance.

No arrests have been made in the case.
