17 gang members arrested in Chattanooga Gangsgiving operation

Law enforcement authorities made 34 arrests, including 17 gang members, during the two-day Gangsgiving III roundup.

Nathan Hartwig, police department spokesman, said officers seized 138.4 grams of marijuana, 6.5 grams of crack cocaine, 18.4 grams of power cocaine, eight guns and recovered two vehicle that had been reported stolen.

The roundup involved a gang member warrant operation, traffic enforcement, and a drug buy/bust operation, Hartwig said in a news release.

The gang member warrant and drug buy/bust operations were conducted throughout the Chattanooga area, the news release stated. The traffic enforcement operation targeted both city streets and interstates, including I-24, I-75, Highway 27, and Highway 153. Traffic officers wrote 572 moving citations, according to the news release.

The police department worked with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, ATF, TBI, FBI, ICE, Red Bank Police Department, and the Collegedale Police Department, Hartwig said.
