Healthy Glow Studio brings a touch of Hollywood to the North Shore

Healthy Glow Studio owner Sophia Bridger is bringing Infinity Sun, the organic botanical spray tan favored by celebrities, to Chattanooga with her new tanning studio and boutique located at 2 North Shore.

Set to open Nov. 23, the studio features three booths for airbrush tanning performed by a trained technician, as well as a treatment room where services such as personal exfoliation and threading are offered.

No UV rays or harmful chemicals are used in the Infinity Sun tanning process, and the resulting glow typically lasts eight to 10 days, said Bridger.

"They will come out glowing, excited and happy, and they will definitely want to go out the evening of," she said. "It's a fun way of making yourself look beautiful and healthy."

A native of Poland, Bridger moved to Chicago as a child and later in her adult years moved to Chattanooga, where she raised her children and worked as an interior designer. Now that her children are grown and leading productive lives (one of her daughters owns Hair A Go-Go next door to the new Healthy Glow Studio space), she decided she wanted to try something fun and new, she said.

Bridger started researching options for possible businesses to open, and said she settled on a spray tan studio and boutique because it combined her love of fashion, beauty and glamour. She said UV-safe tanning is currently the fastest growing industry in the United States, with a hole in the Chattanooga market that needed to be filled.

"A lot of people are becoming more conscious of the dangers of UV bulbs and sprays that aren't healthy," said Bridger. "Just as we're very particular about what we should eat, we should be careful about what we put on the exterior."

Healthy Glow also carries Infinity Sun products to help customers extend their tan from home, as well as the Sun Bum sun protection line, as a spray tan won't protect against sunburn like a natural tan. Affordable organic bath products from Lather are also offered, rounding out the product line at Healthy Glow. The boutique will feature resort and swimwear year-round, including Havaianas flip flops.

Bridger said she will offer individual and family memberships as well as PINK memberships for breast cancer patients, and gift cards will be sold soon.

She said plans to hold her grand opening celebration with giveaways and discounts in mid-December. The North Shore Healthy Glow Studio will be Bridger's anchor store, with more locations in the Chattanooga area to follow, she said.
