Bradley County constable suffers stroke

A veteran Bradley County, Tenn., constable was fighting for his life Wednesday night at Erlanger hospital after collapsing from an apparent stroke earlier in the day.

Ira Cox, 74, was felled after a TV interview, state Rep. Eric Watson, R-Cleveland, said Wednesday night.

Watson said Cox has served as constable, reserve deputy and with Bradley County rescue services since 1962.
