CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - The two northbound lanes of Interstate 75 between Old Alabama Highway and Cloud Springs Road will be closed most of today and Tuesday, according to a state news release.
Georgia Department of Transportation work crews will be repairing asphalt between mile markers 348 and 349.7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.
On Tuesday, the two left lanes of southbound I-75 beween mile markers 351 and 350 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for road repairs, according to the release.
Motorists are asked to slow down and drive with care in the presence of work crews.
MORRISTOWN, Tenn. - An eastern Tennessee hospital was locked down for three hours by a bomb scare caused by an unattended bag near the emergency room.
Morristown Police Department spokesman Brian Sulfridge said Lakeway Regional Hospital wasn't evacuated Saturday morning, but operations were curtailed until the department's bomb unit determined the bag didn't contain explosives.
Sulfridge said the bag held soap, deodorant and other overnight essentials.
NASHVILLE - Nashville police said one person has died after a physical fight between two brothers led to a stabbing in the parking lot of LP Field.
Police said Jesse T. Alexander, 28, of Nashville, was pronounced dead at Baptist Hospital on Saturday night. Police said the stabbing happened at about 8:15 p.m. CDT as Alexander and his brother, Joshua Alexander, tailgated with family and friends after the Tennessee State University homecoming game. Police said Joshua Alexander, 38, drove away from the parking lot.
ATHENS, Ga. - Prosecutors in Northeast Georgia are weighing whether to press charges against a man accused of raping a woman he met through the Craigslist website.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports Oconee County sheriff's deputies turned over details of their investigation last week to prosecutors. Sheriff Scott Berry says it's "a difficult case."
A woman from Bogart reported Sept. 18 that a man she met through Craigslist came to her home and abused and raped her.
