HazMat team dispatched to Red Bank after afternoon truck accident

The Hamilton County Hazardous Materials team responded to a semi-truck accident in Red Bank this afternoon.

A tanker carrying 4,000 pounds of argon gas got stuck at a tight turn near 110 East Meadowbrook Drive. The driver noticed the back wheels were starting to come off the ground, so he parked the truck until emergency personnel arrived, Hamilton County Emergency Management Services spokesperson Amy Maxwell said.

The HazMat team released several pounds of pressure in the tanker so that the unit could be repositioned in the road. Argon is a non-flammable gas, non-toxic gas that is used for welding. It is not harmful to the environment.
