Jackson County, Ala., sheriff's deputies who stopped a vehicle on Highway 71 in Pisgah Wednesday searched it and seized about a pound of synthetic marijuana, or "Spice," according to a news release.

Arrested were Christopher Alan Bates, 23, and Joel Edward Bradley, 31, both of Fyffe, Ala. The suspects were taken to the Jackson County Jail and each charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, sheriff's spokesman Rocky Harnen said.

Both men remain jailed on $2,500 bond, he said.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit assisted in the investigation, Harnen said.
