Two employees at the Sav A Lot grocery in Middle Valley were robbed Tuesday as they left for the night, one of them carrying the store's cash bag, authorities said.

About 9:30 p.m., the two were walking to their vehicles in the parking lot at 6925 Middle Valley Road when they were approached by the suspect, said Janice Atkinson, spokeswoman for the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect pulled up next to them in a car and pointed a handgun wrapped in a blue cloth at them, she said. He got out of the car and hit the male employee carrying the cash bag in the face with the gun, Atkinson said. The employee dropped the bag, which the suspect grabbed before fleeing down Middle Valley Road.

The suspect is described as a male driving a gold Saturn with a factory spoiler, Atkinson said. He was wearing all black, including a black hoodie with a hat pulled low over his eyes.

He is about 5 foot 9 and weighs about 120 pounds, she said, and was last seen driving south on Middle Valley Road.

Anyone with information about this robbery can call the sheriff's dispatcher at 423-622-0022.
