2 Alabama men arrested on drug charges

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Authorities have arrested two Alabama men they say tried to buy 10 kilograms of cocaine with plans to distribute it.

The U.S. district attorney's office in Montgomery says 48-year-old Stanley Parker of Tuskegee and 68-year-old Charles Richard Sistrunk of Enterprise were arrested this week in Montgomery. It was not immediately clear whether they had lawyers.

Prosecutors say Parker went to New Mexico last month to buy cocaine. He met with an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent acting as a drug dealer. They agreed on a price of $270,000.

Prosecutors say Parker met the agent at a hotel in Montgomery Tuesday, and Sistrunk arrived with cash. When Parker showed the cash to the agent, federal agents moved in to arrest the two.

They face a maximum penalty of life in prison
