TVA theft case ends with guilty plea

A former TVA employee has pleaded guilty to felony theft of property valued at over $10,000.

Michael Farner of Benton, Tenn., was charged with taking TVA-owned items from work sites around the Ocoee dams in Polk County, Tenn.

He was sentenced by a judge in Polk County court to three years probation and ordered to pay more than $15,000 in restitution to TVA. Farner no longer is employed by TVA.

TVA police investigators said they recovered more than 300 items belonging to TVA from Farner's property, including fencing, piping, wooden beams and tools.
