The Times of Gainesville reports that the lake reached 1,070 feet above sea level Tuesday. Wilton Rooks, vice president of the Lake Lanier Association, says it shows the lake's resiliency as it responds to average or slightly above average rainfall.
Rooks says the lake has risen more than 13 feet since the middle of December.
Pat Robbins with the Army Corps of Engineers says the goal is to get the lake to summer full pool, which is 1,071 feet, by the time that measure takes effect May 1. But he says that will depend on rainfall.
