Teens charged in alleged 'sexting' ring

SPRING HILL, Tenn. - Three Williamson County students are facing felony sex crime charges after police say they distributed nude photos of their female classmates over the Internet.

Spring Hill Police said on Friday that what started out as "sexting," - the practice of sending sexual words or images over cell phones and other devices - grow to something sinister.

Police say after getting the initial pictures, the boys used extortion to get more nude photos by threatening to send copies of the embarrassing pictures to their parents or friends or display them all over the school.

Investigators say the three boys were storing the photos in email accounts and allowing friends access to them.

The three have been charged with a total of 24 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.
