Georgia rounding up suspects in child porn case

ATHENS, Ga. - Law enforcement in Georgia is still rounding up 98 people identified in what the Georgia Bureau of Investigation calls the state's largest child pornography investigation ever.

A GBI agent said 47 people had been arrested as of Friday. She said no makers of child porn were identified during the investigation called "Operation Guarding Innocence." But the 98 people were viewing images or videos of children being sexually assaulted.

Special Agent Sandra Putnam told the Athens Banner-Herald that the investigation was driven by computer technicians who located IP addresses where people traded images of sexually exploited images. The large crackdown coincides with National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
