Three suspects charged in vandalism spree at 50 Dalton area businesses

photo The Dalton Police Department has announced it is investigating up to 40 reports of vandalism of area businesses that occurred overnight.

Three suspects have been charged after a recent vandalism spree left windows at 50 Dalton area businesses damaged.

Ricky Herbert Pratt, 22, Nicholas Lane Atkins II, 20, and a juvenile are charged with numerous counts of Criminal Damage to Property and Criminal Trespass, according to a news release from the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office.

All three subjects were booked into the Whitfield County Jail.

Thanks to a tip, investigators found the silver 2007 Ford F150 truck suspected of being used in the spree. The truck belonged to the juvenile.

Two sling-shots and marbles were used in the crime, according to the release. Police said the three started out hitting street signs with the marbles and progressed to windows during the night.

No reason was provided for causing all the damage.
