Donations for Gilmer County flood victims accepted

The Gilmer County (Ga.) Emergency Management Agency has announced a new location to drop off donations for flood victims.

Donated goods are being received at Fire Station 1, 325 Howard Simmons Road, agency officials said in a news release Saturday. Call 706-635-3424 to arrange a delivery.

The biggest demand is for cleaning supplies such as bleach, mops, brooms, buckets, trash bags (all sizes), baby wipes and disposable gloves (rubber or latex), the release stated.

There is also a need for building supplies, including: 2 by 4 studs, Sheetrock, insulation, hammers, blue plastic tarps, plywood and leather gloves.

Also needed are personal hygiene products, small first aid kits and bottled water.

Donations of used clothing are not needed.
