Boat gas tank explodes at Harrison Bay State Park - woman hospitalized

A house boat gas tank exploded Friday evening at Harrison Bay State Park, leaving a female passenger with burns, according to Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency officials.

Friday evening, TWRA officials said after a mechanic worked on one family's house boat, the family gassed up the boat at the state park's fueling dock.

Officials said a possible fuel leak then sparked a blaze and the port-side tank exploded, causing burns to one of the boat's female passengers. She suffered burns to the face, arms and legs, officials said.

The boat was pushed away from the dock and the fire was promptly put out, leaving little serious damage to the boat.

The woman was taken to Erlanger, TWRA officials said, and around 9:45 p.m., the scene was still under investigation and no further information was available. The names of the victim or the other passengers have not been released.
