Governor Bill Haslam said today that the state will look at buying the innovative, energy saving lights built by a Chattanooga company that has opened a new plant.
"We'll look at it," the governor said after touring the Hixson plant of Global Green Lighting. "Can we make the numbers work?"
Haslam said he'd talk with state department of transportation and state environment and conservation officials.
"It's significant when manufacturing is moved from China to the U.S.," he said.
GGL Chief Don Lepard made the decision to shift the company's manufacturing lines from China to Chattanooga.
The company employs 40 people and has plans to hire up to 250.
