UT University Center evacuated after robbery

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- University of Tennessee officials have evacuated people from the University Center after a man robbed a credit union office and left a package he claimed was a bomb.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported a man entered the center shortly before 11:30 a.m. and demanded large-denomination bills.

Emergency dispatchers said the robber was described as wearing white medical scrubs, a white apron, a medical mask and medical gloves. An alert went out to students, faculty and staff at UT.

An officer at the scene said the man left a package. The bomb squad and the FBI came to the scene.
