The Chattanooga Fire Department reported that a man jumped out of a bedroom window early this morning to escape a fire at a home at 3527 Taylor St.

Stephen Boudy may have sustained an injury to his head when jumping out of the window and was taken to Erlanger Medical Center as a precaution, the department's news release said.

Capt. Will Andrews said fire was coming from the front living room and flames were shooting out the window. It took about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

There was fire damage to the front room while the rest of the house had smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire was determined by the fire department to be accidental. Lt. Andrew Waters of the Fire Investigation Division said the fire was likely caused by an electrical malfunction.
