Wes Snyder, chief of police in Cleveland, Tenn., is retiring.

Cleveland City Manager Janice Casteel confirmed in an email that Snyder is leaving the position he has held since 2004. He came up through the ranks at the Cleveland department, where his father also served as chief.

His retirement date could not be immediately confirmed Friday afternoon.
