TEXARKANA, Ark. - Several followers of convicted evangelist Tony Alamo have filed ownership claims to properties in Fouke and Fort Smith that a federal judge has ruled can be sold to partially satisfy a $30 million judgment Alamo owes in a civil lawsuit.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Barry Bryant earlier approved the sale of the properties after dismissing ownership claims by several Alamo followers.
The Texarkana Gazette reports that several Alamo followers are now trying again to claim the properties.
Alamo has been ordered to pay $15 million to each of two men after a jury found he ordered the men to be beaten, starved and abused when they were children.
Alamo is currently serving a 175-year prison term after being convicted of taking young girls across state lines for sex.
