Georgia: Former pastor sentenced to prison in teen sex case

PERRY, Ga. - A former Hawkinsville pastor has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of having sex with an underage teen he met at church.

The Telegraph of Macon reports 34-year-old Terrance King was sentenced in Houston County on Friday, one day after a jury convicted him of statutory rape, aggravated child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes. King had served as pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Superior Court Judge Edward Lukemire also sentenced King to life on probation, banished him from Houston County and ordered him not to contact the victim or her family.

During Friday's hearing, King's mother Lorine Mosley described her son as an upstanding young man who tried to help people. She later said she believes her son is innocent.
