NASHVILLE - Citizens United Political Victory Fund endorsed state Sen. Jim Tracy in his GOP primary challenge to 4th Congressional District Congressman Scott DesJarlais, the South Pittsburg physician.

In a statement given to Politico, Citizens United President David Bossie said "CUPVF has supported Congressman DesJarlais in the past, but can no longer do so because he does not share our conservative values. Tennessee's fourth congressional district deserves a strong conservative voice in Washington and Jim Tracy is that candidate."

Bossie added: "I urge the people of Tennessee's fourth congressional district to support Jim Tracy in next year's primary."

CUPVF is the affiliated political action committee of the conservative group Citizens United. The PAC has contributed $5,000 to Tracy, who is from Shelbyville.

Tracy said in a news release that "I am honored to have the support of a great conservative organization like Citizens United. I appreciate the confidence that they have placed in my conservative principles. I am going to continue to work hard to build grassroots support across the district."

Citizens United is best known for a 2010 U.S. Supreme Court ruling which reversed a century-old law limiting political independent expenditures by corporations, independent groups and organized labor.
