South Georgia man sentenced on child pornography charges

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Federal prosecutors say a south Georgia man has been sentenced to more than 24 years in prison on charges of distributing and receiving child pornography.

Prosecutors said today that 28-year-old Jeffrey Babb, of Waynesboro, used free wireless service at several fast food restaurants in the Augusta area to trade child porn.

Officials say the man used several different email accounts but was identified through an investigation involving the Department of Homeland Security and the Burke County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say they found more than 870 photos and nearly 100 videos of child porn on Babb's computer.

Babb pleaded guilty to the charges in January, and will be required to register as a sex offender.
