All Fort Oglethorpe elections to be held at City Hall

Fort Oglethorpe Election Superintendent Orma Luckey recently announced to the City Council that voting for all city elections will now be held exclusively at City Hall.

In the past, she said citizens could vote in special city elections and county elections simultaneously at Constitution Hall.

"No matter what we did, it was confusion," she said of the combined elections. "It was not a good way to have an election."

Especially since both early voting and Election Day voter participation has increased, she said she felt like it was best to simplify the system by having elections exclusively at City Hall.

"We will not be going to Constitution Hall for city elections," she explained. "Early voting - all three weeks - will be in the meeting room [at City Hall]."

New voter registration cards will be sent out to residents affected by the change and notice of the change will be put in the newspaper, Luckey said.
