Body of man who went fishing found after 2-week search in Alabama

AUTAUGAVILLE, Ala. - A two-week search ended with officials finding the body of a man who went missing while fishing in Autauga County.

Deputies located the remains of 48-year-old David Taylor on Sunday. They'd been searching a pond where he had gone fishing on Dec. 8 in Autaugaville.

Searchers previously located Taylor's overturned canoe in the water. They also found a tackle box, a fishing pole and a boot, and Taylor's truck was at the pond.

Workers used pumps to drain millions of gallons of water out of the pond before locating the body. It was entangled in weeds in an area that had been submerged.

A friend of Taylor, Gregory Davis, says he feels better knowing what happened to the man.
