Fire crews battle blaze at Atlanta restaurant

ATLANTA - Firefighters were battling a blaze early on Christmas Eve at a restaurant in Atlanta's midtown area.

Atlanta fire crews arrived around 5 a.m. today to douse the flames at a building that houses the J.R. Crickets restaurant. The business is at 631 Spring St. Northwest, across the street from The Varsity restaurant.

CBS Atlanta reports that flames were burning a section of the top floor. Crews knocked down the flames and worked before dawn to put out the hot spots.

The restaurant's website says the Spring Street location is the original one, which opened in 1982. It later expanded to other locations in metro Atlanta and in St. Louis.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries, and it wasn't known early Tuesday what caused the blaze.
