ERIN, Tenn. - A set of human remains found on Thanksgiving Day in Houston County have been positively identified as that of a man last seen on Oct. 7.
Houston County Sheriff's Lt. Brian Hooper told The Leaf-Chronicle that DNA from the remains matched Leamon Luffman of Erin.
The body was released to the family and a funeral was held Sunday.
On Thanksgiving morning, a hunter found a human body in a heavily wooded area off Highway 231.
Hooper says the medical examiner's final report has not been completed, so a cause of death is still unknown.
Luffman left his home as usual early on the morning of Oct. 7. His wife Margie assumed he had gone to work at a saw mill in Vanleer until she noticed his car at the residence.
