HOHENWALD, Tenn. - The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald is presenting a multimedia program called Elephant Trunks Come Packed with Olympian Skills.

The informal presentation on Saturday afternoon will include videos of Winkie the elephant peeling an orange and Flora stripping bark off a tree. Visitors also will learn how Sissy and Liz, who have partially paralyzed trunks, manage to eat and drink all they want each day.

The Daily Herald reports (http://bit.ly/WEvF9C) elephants' trunks have between 40,000 and 60,000 muscles. Their trunk dexterity, sense of smell and strength are unique in the world of mammals.

Also at the sanctuary are a photo exhibit of the elephants and live-streaming video, so visitors can see the animals in their natural environment without disturbing them.
