The Market Street Bridge spans the Tennessee River between downtown Chattanooga and the Northshore District.Inspectors from the Tennessee Department of Transportation will carry out their regular quarterly testing and inspection of the Market Street Bridge downtown on Sunday.
Their work will begin at 8 a.m. with the bridge being closed to traffic.
The drawbridge will be opened as part of the process, officials said in a release.
The bridge should be reopened for use no later than 2 p.m., the release said.
Bad weather or unforeseen circumstances could lead to the inspection being put off to a later date.
