The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team clinched its 12th Southern Conference regular-season championship in the past 14 seasons tonight at McKenzie Arena.
UTC beat second-place Davidson, 68-59, to wrap up the title with one game left in the season. The Lady Mocs play at Appalachian State on Saturday.
Ashlen Dewart had a huge game for the Lady Mocs (25-3, 18-1 SoCon), finishing with 24 points and nine rebounds. Davidson's Sophia Aleksandravicius finished with 18, though she was held to eight points in the final 30 minutes.
UTC will be the No. 1 seed in the SoCon tournament and will play its first game at noon on March 9, at UNC-Asheville's Kimmel Arena.
