WHITEVILLE - Authorities say at least two counties in West Tennessee are closing their schools on Monday because of area flooding.

According to WMC-TV, McNairy and Hardin counties said Sunday that their schools would be closed.

Hardeman County was also experiencing flooding, but no announcement had been made as of Sunday evening concerning its schools.

Whiteville Police Chief Steve Stanley said Murphy Lane off of Union Springs Road in Whiteville had washed away, leaving dozens of motorists stranded on the other side. There were no reports of injuries.

Elsewhere in the state, there were flood warnings for several Middle Tennessee counties, as well as some tornado warnings.

Tennessee Emergency Management Agency spokesman Dean Flener told The Associated Press Sunday evening that there weren't any reports of injuries or damage.
