A 21-year-old Ringgold woman faces a charge of vehicular homicide after she told Chattanooga police investigators she was going in excess of 100 mph to pick up her sick child after she had been partying all night with her husband at a friend's house.

Ariel Cathleen Campbell lost control of her Chrysler Concord on Interstate 24 on Oct. 26. She slid into a concrete barrier before going across all four lanes of traffic. There was a six-car pileup.

A driver of a Chevrolet S-10 pickup, James Morgan, was killed when his truck rolled over after swerving out of the way, according to the arrest report.

Morgan was ejected from the truck and died from his injuries, according to police.

Witnesses told police Campbell was passing on both the left and right shoulders at a high rate of speed.

Campbell's bond has been set at $10,000. Her next court date is set for Jan. 28 before Hamilton County Sessions Court Judge Gary Starnes.
