Jennifer Hatfield-Streeval.Mother charged in beating death
A mother and her male friend were indicted by the grand jury Wednesday on second-degree murder charges in the beating death of a 76-year-old man.
Jennifer Hatfield-Streeval, 33, and John Eugene Moncier, 29, face the charges after police say they dragged Garner Lee Isbill down concrete steps at the Lee Highway Motel 6 and stripped him, beat him and left him bleeding.
Isbill died two months after the March 18, 2012, alleged attack.
Streeval told police that her daughter had told her that Isbill had molested her.
Isbill's daughter Yvonne Trammell said after a previous court hearing that she didn't believe the allegations against her father. Police testified that there was no evidence Isbill had molested the girl.
Two men indicted in Gant slaying
A pair of men arrested in a robbery-turned-murder were indicted Wednesday by the grand jury.
Segmund Boyd, 39, and Adrian Gustus, 38, face felony murder and especially aggravated robbery charges after police say they robbed Crystal Williams and shot Winston Gant, 65, at Gant's home/business on July 28, 2012.
Williams testified in the preliminary hearing that Boyd, her estranged boyfriend, was jealous of the time she spent working for Gant as a housekeeper and suspected the pair were romantically involved.
Gant was the father-in-law of state Rep. Gerald McCormick.
Police say Gant and Boyd waited outside the 2401 Briggs Ave. location of Gant's Towing before ambushing the pair. One of the men shot Gant in the leg. He died of his wounds.
