With meteorologists predicting a near-100 percent chance of rain Thursday, Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park will postpone its 4th of July fireworks show until Saturday night.
"The weather forecast just doesn't look like it's going to give us a break," Lake Winnie spokeswoman Talley Green said today.
"It's just not safe to shoot [fireworks] in the rain," she said. "There's just too much of a chance for a misfire or a wet shell."
With the rescheduling, Lake Winnie will hold back-to-back fireworks displays at 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Green said.
She said the 20-minute shows are coordinated with patriotic music, and the pyrotechnic displays won't be identical.
"There'll be some differences," Green said.
