A woman who suffered a gunshot wound Thursday night was able to drive herself to the Hardee's on McCahill Road in Red Bank and get help.

Red Bank Police Chief Tim Christol said it appears the woman, who was not identified, had been feuding with someone in Chattanooga. Their fight spilled over into Red Bank when the woman took to U.S. Highway 27 and was chased, he said.

He said early indications suggest the woman was shot before the Morrison Springs exit. She drove to the nearest place she could for help. The woman was taken to a Chattanooga hospital for treatment.

The shooting was not a random act of violence, Christol said. The victim knew the suspect, he added.

Red Bank Police officers are working on tracking down the suspect, who also was not identified, he said.

"We have some good leads. We're following it, and we'll do what we can," he said.
