Tennessee River hits flood stage in downtown Chattanooga

The Tennessee River is at flood stage at the Walnut Street Bridge, according to the National Weather Service.

A flood warning is in effect until Tuesday evening.

As of 12:15 p.m. Monday, water levels reach 651 feet. Minor flooding is forecast for the area.

The National Weather Service predicts that the river will rise above flood stage throughout the rest of Monday and hold steady around 651.1 feet feet through noon on Tuesday.

The river is expected to begin falling by Tuesday afternoon.

Tennessee Riverpark closed

The Tennessee Riverpark, including the boat ramp and all fishing piers, is entirely closed due to high water, according to a news release from Hamilton County government.
