SOMERVILLE, Tenn. - A court in West Tennessee has fined a couple $50,000 and ordered them to have no pets for 20 years.
The ruling in Somerville ended the prosecution of Drs. William Parr and his wife, Ricio Parr. The Parrs were sentenced to six years of probation on guilty pleas to three felony cruelty counts.
The Commercial Appeal reported the decision on Monday followed a rescue of more than 100 animals from the couple's former home in Moscow, Tenn.
The court set aside $18,000 in fines to go for a new animal shelter in Fayette County.
During the raid in September, the couple's two teenage children were also removed by the state. The 18-year-daughter and the 13-year-old son returned home on a trial basis July 17.
