Bradley County sheriff reported hospitalized after an episode of atrial fibrillation

CLEVELAND, Tenn - Bradley County Sheriff Jim Ruth is currently receiving treatment in a Nashville hospital after suffering an episode of atrial fibrillation, a condition involving a fast and irregular heartbeat.

Ruth was hospitalized last Thursday while attending an FBI training seminar while in Nashville, according to the Bradley County Sheriff's Office website. An update said that Ruth's condition continues to improve and a full recovery is expected.

"Like many, Sheriff Ruth experiences the A-Fib condition which is controlled by medication," said the website update. "His doctors said they were well-pleased with his progress and rapid response to medication."

"We want express our thoughts and prayers to Sheriff Ruth and wish him a speedy recovery," Dan Howell, executive assistant to Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis, said.
