Teen shoots self in leg with stolen gun

KNOXVILLE - Not only did a Knoxville teen shoot himself in the leg with a .45-caliber handgun, but he also faces charges because the weapon was stolen.

Police at 11:50 a.m. today responded to 4612 Joe Lewis Road on a shooting call. When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy with a minor gunshot wound to a leg.

The weapon is a .45-caliber Kimber, according to Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk.

The teen was walking through the courtyard area along Joe Lewis when he shot himself, DeBusk said. The gun was found near the wounded boy.
