EPB crews are "on scene and enroute" to deal with a growing number of outages through the Chattanooga area that surpassed 2,000 around 3 p.m., said spokesman John Pless.

More than 1,000 in the Red Bank and Moccasin Bend area lost power, along with hundreds more in Hixson, he said, when a tree hit power lines and caught fire.

"It's changing moment by moment," Pless said.
