ATHENS, Ala. - The Tennessee Valley Authority says about 1,000 people in five north Alabama counties will participate in a safety drill for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
The federal utility says the emergency preparedness exercise will be conducted today.
Residents may hear sirens and see radiological monitoring teams during the drill.
The exercise will involve TVA workers, state employees and emergency responders in Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone Madison and Morgan counties.
Officials from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Department of Homeland Security will grade the drill, which is required annually by federal regulators.
